How a claim works

Most people have never made a claim before and do not know what to expect. This is the whole process.

1. Free first conversation

Tell us what happened. There is no cost and no obligation, and we will give you an honest view of whether a claim is likely to succeed.

2. We gather the evidence

Accident reports, medical records, witness details and, where needed, reports from independent experts. We request these on your behalf.

3. Independent medical assessment

Arranged and paid for by us, to establish the extent of your injury and your prognosis.

4. Negotiation

We put the claim to the other side’s insurer and negotiate. The overwhelming majority of claims settle at this stage.

5. Court, only if necessary

If liability is disputed or an offer is too low, we will issue proceedings and represent you. Even then, most cases settle before a hearing.

6. Support

You deal with the same person at every stage, and we keep you updated rather than waiting for you to chase.

What a claim costs

We handle injury and negligence claims under a conditional fee agreement, better known as no win, no fee. There is nothing to pay upfront, and if your claim does not succeed you owe us nothing.

If your claim succeeds, a success fee is deducted from your compensation and is capped as a percentage of your damages. We set out that cap, and what it means for you in pounds, in writing before you sign anything. Where after the event insurance is needed to cover disbursements, we explain the cost at the outset rather than later.
